The starter relay or solénoïd starter is an electromagnetic part located just before the starter, which role is to open and close the power supply of the latter. 

It is made up of magnets which, in contact with one another, will allow current to be routed from the battery to the starter in order to be able to supply it.

Micro electric arcs generated by repeated contacts of these two magnet parts lead to the development of oxidation which, in the long term, will no longer allow the relay to provide sufficient electrical intensity for starting the motorcycle.

If you no longer hear the specific “clac” resulting of the two magnet contact when pressing the starter button, and that both battery tension and starter functionning in direct loop is OK, then your starter relay needs to be changed.
